Panama : Festival Bunde and Bullerengue

The Bunde is a religious dance of African origin who is incorporating elements of Christianity , festival aimed at Nativity Baby Jesus . In communities where it is practiced and Tucutí Garachiné .


The Bullerengue is a sensual dance which means joy and movement, it is the union of two words Bulle and Renge : its origins date back to the fertility dance initiated by the " Bulle " , leader of the tribe before planting .

Communities that participate in the Festival of Bunde and Bullerengue are: Real, Yaviza Pinogana , Union Choco , Vista Alegre , La Palma , Garachiné , Sambu , Tucutí , Camogantí , Zapallal Metetí , Jaque and Normal Santiago as guest . Prepared more than 300 artists who make up the various sets . La Palma must put on sensual and rhythmic music.

Since 1983 there have been in the City of La Palma festivals have a Unique character in the Republic and that bring important folkloric expressions. To encourage this important activity has become, since 1992, a BUNDE FESTIVAL AND BOARD Bullerengue whose main purposes , hold, disseminate and develop Darien expressions of folklore.

This proposal is based on Article 83 of the Constitution , which points to the folk traditions as a core part of the national culture and it is the duty of the State,
promote conservation.
Panama , 15 July 2011.La Darien region on the border with Colombia , is one of the greatest biodiversity on the continent. In this biological wealth is the added mixture of indigenous , Afro-descendant and peasant cultures that turn the on stage in an extraordinarily rich cultural manifestations wield despite very low levels in the Human Development Index .

In 2005 , as part of efforts to rescue the black cultural identity within Pro -Darien , a project funded by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD ), implemented by the Ministry of Agricultural Development ( MIDA) program supported UN Development Programme ( UNDP) , the idea of uniting into one of the best representatives of women's groups and Bullerengue Bunde . In hearings involving different local cantalantes and musicians of La Palma , Yaviza and El Real, and to reflect the environment and the power of music a milk timber and thatch where experts in music and sound are enabled , conducted recordings . This initiative , converted into a compact disc , introduced in the Cathedral Plaza and rescue in a high- quality sounds, traditions and colors of an entire culture.

This project not only involved in the production of 10 thousand copies of the CD Darien : Bunde and Bullerengue but also strengthen local cultural initiatives promoted by the Black Cultural Association Darien ( ACUNEDA ) who set out to ensure the enhancement of their expressions and culture. The revenue collected from the sale of the CD were donated ACUNEDA them to continue in a sustainable manner to promote the culture of African
